• American Ornithologists' Union. North America's principal professional society for ornithologists
• American Birding Association. Dedicated to birding (i.e, serious, hardcore "bird watching")
• British Ornithologists' Union. The granddaddy of ornithological societies, particularly active in Europe and Africa.
• Georgia Ornithological Society. Dedicated to Georgia birds
• Raptor Research Foundation. Professional society for study of raptors
• Association of Field Ornithologists. Professional society that emphasizes contributions of amateurs
• Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Research, education, and conservation focusing on birds
• Wilson Ornithological Society. Another professional society.

• AOU Check-list of North American Birds. Online version of the "official" North American bird list

• NorthBirding. Site with some nice identification quizzes
• Florida Museum of Natural History. Good photo collection of southeastern birds
• North American Bird Sounds. Great place to work on your bird songs and calls
• Florida Bird Songs. Many songs and calls of birds found in our region
• Atlanta Birds. The Fernbank's guide to common Atlanta-area birds.
• Powdermill Bird Banding. Web site for one of the country's premier banding stations, including photos that will knock your socks off.

• American Bird Conservancy. Works to protect birds in the Americas
• Partners in Flight. Bird conservation with an emphasis on migratory birds
• Birdlife International. Conserving birds internationally
• National Audubon Society. Environmental organization with its roots in bird conservation
• Environmental Protection Agency. A link to EPA's bird conservation efforts
• U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A link to USFWS's bird habitat conservation program
• North American Bird Conservation Initiative. Promotes interagnecy partnerships for bird conservation
• Ducks Unlimited. Active in wetland conservation, with an emphasis on waterfowl.
