- An introduction
to major principles of genetics, evolution, and ecology. This
course covers the origin and maintenance of genetic variation
(Mendelian and population genetics), genetic change in populations
over time (selection, drift, and gene flow), and taxonomic diversification
(speciation). Students will see how evolution and diversification
are shaped by ecological interactions between organisms and their
abiotic and biotic environment. These ecological interactions
will be studied at the population, community, and ecosystem levels.
