My teaching philosophy rests on a foundation of critical thinking accompanied by cooperative learning. In all of my courses I emphasize interaction, discussion and personal involvement through independent experimental research or, in non-laboratory courses, library-based research papers. The manuscripts produced by students in my upper level classes are published in-house as a journal. The journal format not only entices students to produce a high-quality product, but the journal provides them with a physical manifestation of their efforts. Such materials can be useful accompaniments on interviews for post-graduate education or employment.
