 Elliottia racemosa, Georgia Plume. A relatively rare plant of the lower coastal plain in Georgia. It is named for Stephen Elliott who collected the species near Waynesboro, Georgia around 1800..

 Franklinia alatamaha, Franklinia. A small tree collected by John and William Bartram along the Altamaha River in Georgia in 1765. The plant is named for Benjamin Franklin and the Altamaha River (but spelled as above). The species is maintained in cultivation and presumed to be extinct in the wild. It was last seen in its native habitat in 1790.
