Research Interests
I study parasites of wild animals. My research projects are designed to examine the impact parasites have on the health, reproductive success, and behavior of their wild animal hosts. I am also interested in mechanisms of transmission and the nature of differences in susceptibility to infection. Parasites of interest include protozoa (i.e., Trypanosoma cruzi and avian hematozoa) and the digenetic trematode Microphallus turgidus. To study parasite/host interactions in the laboratory, we are currently investigating means of maintaining and growing trematode parasites in vitro. |
